Here's a selection of my magazine covers which ended up in the bin and never saw the light of day.

Some got scrapped simply because an alternative was better. Others, however, were just unlucky - a show got cancelled or what I thought was one thing, turned out to be something completely different.

So here's a portfolio devoted to the "also-rans", the second places and the
unlucky covers.

When we had the content meeting, Reginald D Hunter was one of the big names playing Bristol Comedy Garden. When I started this cover, Reginald D Hunter was one of the big names playing Bristol Comedy Garden. When I finished and went to check the dates, he wasn't. The line up had changed and I swore a great deal.
We had a story about a type of therapy which involved getting "your bounce back" so I came up with this... until I found out it didn't actually involve bouncing, so this would have been a bit misleading.
This one clashed with the Harbour Festival which is massive... so it just missed out making the cover.
This is an old one but I learned a lesson on this. Somehow I'd got it into my head NIgel Kennedy was coming to perform the Four Seasons. He wasn't, he was performing something else. Did I bother to check? Yes but only after I done all of this. So I swore a great deal.
